What is Community Magic-Making at Wildbrook Forest Theatre?

Beginning Winter 2024, Wildbrook Forest Theatre will host one community forest theatre experience each season with the intention of bringing people together to re-enchant our lives, albeit momentarily, and deepen bonds with the natural world and each other through a quick, abridged creative process and spur-of-the-moment performance that will be inspired by a seasonal (sometimes weather-dependent) occurrence in the forest. Because of the spontaneous nature of these experiences, WFT will send out an invitation to each magic-making offering shortly before the event.

Each seasonal event will have a similar structure and will take place over the period of 1 day.

CREATION- MORNING

Join us for a hands-on creative process of engaging with natural elements in the forest to create a back-drop for an evening performance on the same day! This will be an energizing, collaborative process!

REHEARSAL- AFTERNOON

A certain folktale will be shared and will be the foundation for the afternoon rehearsal process. We will re-tell this tale, improv-style, using the back-drop created in the morning as our stage.

PERFORMANCE- EVENING

In the evening, we will perform our magical, enchanting piece of theatre for our family, friends and community.

Anyone and everyone is invited to join- for just a portion of experience or the entire day!

All children under the age of 9 need to be accompanied by an adult to participate in these community events.

Participation in these events and viewing these performances are free- but donations will be accepted.
